SALT LAKE CITY – Women’s World Health Initiative, a Utah-based nonprofit providing maternal health services in Senegal, West Africa, was selected as one of 25 finalists in Chase Community Giving’s “American Giving Awards.” WWHI is competing with charities nationwide for donations of up to $1 million. Anyone with a Facebook account can support WWHI with just a few mouse click by simply voting through the American Giving Awards program on Facebook.

Twenty-five past Chase Community Giving grant recipients—five charities in five different categories—were chosen to participate in the American Giving Awards, the first ever celebrity tribute to community heroes.

The five charity categories are: Educators & Mentors; Champions of Health & Wellness; Heroes & Leaders; Community Builders; and Youth Developers. Fans are being asked to vote for the five charities that best embody the spirit of the category it falls under. Fans will have from Sept. 28th to Oct. 5th at 12 p.m. ET to help select the final five charities that will be honored, and share $2 million in grants. WWHI is one of the 25 charities that have been chosen to participate.

“The strength of a country’s women determines the strength of a nation. Receiving even $125,000 would be an unbelievable opportunity to ensure the great work of WWHI continues in Senegal, West Africa,” said WWHI Executive Director Dana Allison.

Once the five finalists have been chosen, there will be a second round of voting from Dec. 2nd to Dec. 9th. The top eligible charity at the end of the second round will receive $1 million, the runner up will receive $500,000, the third place charity will receive $250,000, and the forth and fifth place charities will each receive $125,000 grants.

WWHI is competing with just 24 other charities across the country for these grants from Chase. With

the support of volunteers, fans and local residents, WWHI has the opportunity to get these much needed resources to implement big changes.
